Examining methodology for benefits of priority lanes

As part of planning various projects of public transportation priority lanes throughout Israel, we examine how the opening of a dedicated lane would affect the public transportation operators in the area and to estimate the benefit to the operator and the economy. In this project, we built an examination methodology, researched several public transportation priority lanes, analyzed their impact on the operators in the area, established threshold conditions for the examination, and built statistical indices to measure the strength of the impact on the operator and the area. The developed tool makes it possible to examine ahead of time whether the opening of a priority route in a certain area is worthwhile, and what is the expected impact on the public transportation service in the area.
