Operating Plan for an Electric Transportation Project in Mecca, Saudi Arabia

Electric public transportation is gaining momentum around the world. As part of the project, we performed operational planning for a tender for the operation of electric bus routes in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Using an optimization system, we built a full operating plan of buses and drivers, which are active 24/7.

The planning included reference to the times and locations of bus charging, waiting times for drivers, vehicle maintenance time slots and driver assignment on a monthly basis while referring to the labor regulations in Saudi Arabia.

The planning products, apart from work arrangements and vehicles, included maximum efficiency in working hours, minimum deadhead kilometers, minimum numbers of drivers, electrical charging durations, expected electricity consumption and more.
